It might be the case that Kim Jong-kwan works better with his original ideas, themes and vision. I have an inkling that Maria might share some of my reservations about the film, but we will see. I watched it as part of SupremeLemon's Watch List that he kindly made for us and also because it was showing at my local Korean Film Festival. No regrets. The two leads manage to deliver strong performances; particularly Nam Joo-hyuk's, who for some reason - is able to maintain that charismatic aspect off his show-stealing performance in the K-drama "Start-Up", and place it on a different character in the form of Young-seok, and in a film which tone and spirit is the almost complete opposite. And I admit enjoying this film. It's slow in terms of pacing but I don't know why I simply like following the journey of these characters even considering the flawed writing, and next to that, it's kinda sad as well. Perhaps I should watch the Japanese source material I forgot if that one's a manga or anime next in order to get the answers to those questions I have off here. I do have mixed feelings about the way it ended though.
